Coaching Courses Available The University Pirates will pay course fees for members interested in taking any of these courses provided prior approval is sought. Coaching Kids Rugby (CKR) - Wednesday 10th March Description- CKR is a course for coaches & referees of the junior ages U5s, U7s & U9s. Participants are provided with activities suited to these age groups, techniques for group management and an understanding of the modified laws for Pathway Rugby (Walla, Mini & Midi). This course includes Smart Rugby compliance. Venue- NTRU Office/Austar Park 1 Time- 6pm-8.30pm Cost- $15 (includes resources and light refreshments) Smart Rugby (SR) - Thursday 11th March Description- SR is the minimum, mandatory qualification for all head coaches and referees participating in contact rugby (U9s & above). This qualification lasts for two years, after which time it must be refreshed. Venue- Moulden Oval, Palmerston Time- 6pm-8pm Cost- Free (includes resources) Smart Rugby (SR) - Sunday 14th March Description- SR is the minimum, mandatory qualification for all head coaches and referees participating in contact rugby (U9s & above). This qualification lasts for two years, after which time it must be refreshed. Venue- Austar Park 1 Time- 10am-12pm Cost- Free (includes resources) Foundation Course - Sunday 14th March Description- The Foundation Course is the first and major step towards accreditation as a Level 1 Coach or Referee. Participants must nominate as either coaches of referees in training, and undertake a combination of theory and practical education. Venue- Austar Park 1/NTRU Office Time- 10am-5pm Cost- $33 (includes resources and lunch) Level 2 Referee Course - Friday 12th March- Sunday 14th Description- This is a 3 day course available to any current Level 1 Referee seeking accreditation as a Level 2 Referee.
