Club NewsUniversity Pirates appoint Club Administrator Wayne Wood has been appointed as the club's first paid administrative position. Wayne has a long history with NT rugby as a referee and golden oldies player. Wayne's background with financial institutions will be invaluable to the club as it enters into a new era. NTRU Coaching Courses in March The club will pay for its members to do these courses subject to prior approval. Kakadu Tens Saturday 6 March in Jabiru The Pirates plan on sending two teams to this event. Monday December 14, 2009 Building to start on the new gym early 2010. CDU has requested that the changerooms be cleared out by December 20 in preparation for construction. The Changerooms building is one of the oldest buildings on campus and the site of many late night Thursday sessions is to be demolished to make way for a new $5M gym. The gym will be built around the clubhouse and the Pirates will get the existing gym space back . New changerooms and storage will be built into this space providing direct access to the playing field. Construction is expected to be completed early 2011. Friday November 14, 2009 Robert Butcher scoops the pool at the Charles Darwin University Sports Awards. Robert was honoured with a University Half Blue and CDU Athlete of the Year for his achievements on the field for University Pirates and the NT Mosquitos in 2009. Matt Grooby was presented with the Service to Sport Award. Saturday September 19, 2009 University Pirates Presentation night was a big one for seniors as they won A and B grade premierships.
